Wilcox Mofflin is a multi-residential development situated in the inner-city suburb of Ultimo in Sydney, Australia. Nestled on Mountain Street, Wilcox Mofflin is a historic 5-storey building undergoing redevelopment to accommodate residential units.

Unit 2 is owned by a couple in their thirties with no children but a strong desire for an inviting and functional space for entertaining. Their requirements included a master bedroom with an ensuite, a guest bedroom, a laundry, a kitchen, a dining area, a living space, and a home office. This presented a challenge given the limited space, but the advantage of having a 2-storey apartment allowed for the realisation of these requirements.

Upon entering Unit 2, you are greeted by a spacious living room with a central feature: a timber staircase with timber battens that gracefully divide the stairs in the middle for the landing of the stairs to wrap around. These floating stairs are crafted from timber, while the balustrade is made from black powder-coated steel and glass panels, ensuring an unobstructed view of the striking timber battens.

The kitchen space was strategically placed at the back of the unit on the first floor, making it perfect for entertaining, as it is adjacent to the dining room. The kitchen is meticulously designed with bespoke joinery featuring veneer timber cabinetry and quartz stone countertops. Smeg appliances are also incorporated, enhancing the eclectic and bold aesthetic desired by the clients. Beside the kitchen, a compact laundry and powder room are cleverly concealed in a separate room, meeting the client's need for functionality in a limited space. Along the exterior wall of the powder room, a small desk with a computer serves as a compact home office, providing the clients with an efficient workspace without invading the available space.

Upstairs, the space is carpeted and features a spacious master bedroom with corner windows that flood the room with natural light. The master bedroom boasts a generous ensuite with a freestanding bath, shower, toilet, and vanity. Additionally, a walk-in wardrobe with custom timber veneer joinery adds a touch of luxury. Adjacent to the master bedroom is the guest bedroom, which also features a walk-in wardrobe leading to an ensuite equipped with a shower, toilet, and vanity.

The design of Unit 2 caters perfectly to the client's needs and preferences, creating a functional and aesthetically pleasing living space that aligns with their lifestyles.
